Front of drum kit miking: how do you do it?
Hi.
I read some forum threads and posts on drum recording. One thing that interests me is FOK Micing (it stands for front of kit, right?). I am definitely gonna try and put one or two mics in front of the kit in addition to the the room mics. I thought it would be cool to get some inspiration on how to set them up from people who are using FOK mics.

Your Kick Drum Micing Techniques!
Has anyone ever tried putting a heavy weight inside a kick drum (on a pillow) before? I was assisting on a session where a very reputable engineer/producer did this. He said the weight lowers the resonance of the drum and essentially makes the kick sound more tight. The weight also acted as a flat surface to place a Beta 91 inside of the kick.

Drum Micing Question
I recently got some drum tracks sent to me that were done at another studio. To my surpirise they sound great! Each drum was close miked with a room and an over head. Heres my question. . there was only one overhead on a mono track. How would i get my stereo drum sound from just this one mic?

good drum Micing kit?
Hi
Me and my band are planning on getting a whole in ear monitoring system and drum mics to run loops and stuff. We already found our stuff for in ears, but I was wondering what could be a good option for the drum mics. I'm only looking for Shure stuff since we're getting a really good discount on them, but I still don't wanna go with the most expensive stuff out there.

Drum Micing Volume issues
I miced a drum kit using a pair of Samson C02 overheads, an SM57 on the snare and an AKG D112 on the kick. The Overheads were ran through a pair of PreSonus tubepres, and the Kick went into an art tube mp preamp. These were then fed into a Fostex VF160EX recorder.
The overall sound was very good. It sounded real, almost live, and went direct with no EQ sounding pretty decent.

Creative drum miking?
I need to know if I'm passing over something silly here that renders this idea entirely useless.
So I need to record some drums. My mixer has 4 mic channels which then runs to my into my 2 ch. interface. (DOH!)
Obviously, 2 channels for drums is pretty...inadequate. So here's what I was thinking.
