I'm having an enormouse problem getting a drum sound at the moment. I generaly don't like to use too much close Micing but end up having to because I can't deal with the noise from the cymbals any other way. Lots of ride required. Room is smallish 15x12 and has quite a low ceiling.

I used to have foam on the ceiling but this got taken down when I re decorated.

Has anyone used the Audix adx-90 mics for drums or other instruments? They are on sale for $69.95 at MF but I have not heard much about them. Appreciate your opinions.

Anyone got any ideas on a minimal drum mic setup.
I'll be using a pair of C414's or TLM 103's as the overheads anyway, but only have a D114 kick mic and a pair of Shure dynamics left.

Not so minimal really, I suppose. Standard kit: two toms and a floor tom.

Some here may remember the older thread where Recorderman described the way he liked to mic drums.

I am curious if anyone would be willing to chime in with some thoughts, ideas, suggestions about overheads to be used if following Recordermans suggestions.

First off, I have done it already with Beta57's and had some good luck, but I really need to use my 57's elsewhere...

hey guys, i'm looking around for some basic drum mics, i have overheads and i'm using an sm57 for snare, so i'm basically getting mics for bass and toms. i was wondering what experience anybody has had with Sennheiser E604's. i think i'd like to get three of those along with an AKG D112.

I am looking into getting some mics for recording drums. Was thinking about getting the Shure Drum pack which comes with a Beta 52, and 3 sm57s.

I have about $2000.00 U.S. to spend on mics just for Drums and would like to know what I should be looking at. It's very hard to make purchasing descisions where I live because none of the shops carry enough stuff to choose between ( actually listen to ). In Australia, everybody keeps trying to ram RODE mics down your throat but I want better value and sound.

I was planning on using an octopre to add 8 chanels to my 002 rig via the optic, and dedicate these mainly to recording drums. The pre has built in compression/limiting and 48v phantom on each chanel. Is this a viable solution and if so what array of mics should I be looking at to cover the job properly?
I will only have about $1500.00 to play with though.

Hey there everyone. I am looking to find a set of mics for drums that will be used mostly in live performances. If possible I would like to be able to use some or all of the gear for studio work to achieve studio quality results. All this on a $500 budget.
