EQ during mastering
I've tried EQ on about half of my masters. I always feel strange doing it but think I probably would benefit. Sure, I've eq'd the individual tracks and that's already in the remix; however, I need to learn more about making all the tunes sound like they belong together. I've heard rough rule of thumb ideas about making cuts from 315 Hz to 500 Hz (3 DB or so). Wonder about the Q though.

EQ settings advise.
Hi,
Please dont laugh, but I need some advice on the following EQ settings. I use Cubase SX and I have a 15 band 2/3 octave, 12db boost or cut EQ plugin which I would like to set up to imitate a hi fi setup for Classical, Rock, Pop, and Dance, so that I can get a little idea what my music will sound like on average, with different hifi setups. The frequencies are as follows:

Nearfield monitors and EQ question
Hi all,
Advice please,
When I am listening to my mix thru my Yamaha MSP5s and I have a good sounding mix, I find that when I switch to any HI FI equipment thru their speakers it always sound to bassy or clonky espesialy in and around the 125hz, I have to cut the 125hz quite a bit to make it sound reasonable.

The Weiss DYN eq software update
I just ordered the new Weiss dynamic eq update. It allows you to assign 4 bands of eq to be dynamic eqs. Has anyone used this yet? The update works only in the MK2 mode and not in the linear phase mode but Daniel said he's checking into seeing if it can operate in all three modes.

Parametric EQ recomendations
Hello all,
I am looking for a parametric eq that will be used exclusively for equalizing the final mixes. $500 is about my limit, and I am not opposed to buying used. What brands should I look at?
Thanks,
Robert

Low freq bump on HPFs
Hi!, Í wanted to know if anybody could explain why is there a low freq. bump when applying HPF to sources on mixing. My experience is that sweeping on the low range I can find a cutoff freq that, not only removes energy, instead it increases presence.
In other words, by removing low freq rumble I actually can have more Low or mid low presence.

absorbing low freq - cuts boom outside room also?
 I have just recently built a project studio in a 2000 sqr/ft lot. The partition wall between my studio and the shop next (I am in a strip mall ) was said to be 14" wide - staggererd studs 5/8 drywall with insulation. To achieve an STC of 55 we built on accordingly. As it turns out the wall between me and the next door is roughly 8" - not on staggered studs but with insulation.
Any EQ & compression tips and tricks?
Well I'm sure this one has been asked a billion times, but, I've just mixed an album and copied the songs onto my computer, nearly ready to burn to CD. Are there any tips or tricks I could employ with the EQ or compression to add the finishing 'fairy dust' to make the songs sound as professional as possible.

AMEK 9098EQ for $1000. Is it right for me?
So I have never had the chance to work with these but I am in fairly desparate need of 2 good pres and EQ would be a huge plus as the EQ on my Sountracs board is quite lacking. So I have the chance to purchase 1 or more of these for $1000 which sounds like a great deal to me. I am doing all my tracking to PC DAW and mix on my board.

Jules in EQ magazine!
Julian,
Congratulations on your overview of the studio in EQ (p26 Feb issue). It looks really great. I just left a blurb over at RAP about it too :D .
