Recording acoustic guitar w/ Mics pointed down from ceiling
I have treated my room a la fiberglass cloud on ceiling, and left the floor live. I like a bit of liveliness since I mostly record acoustic guitar in ORTF with some omni's. I took Ethan's advice from his faq on this and decided I'd try it with the cheaper rigid fiberglass bass traps on the ceiling with coverage at about 80%.
JBL Tone Controls-Where is "Flat"?
Does anyone happen to know where the Mid and High tone nobs on JBL model 4312 are set in order to be "flat"? I believe it is not an obvious/sensible position (such as "5")... I think its more like 7.5 or 3.5 or something crazy like that. Thanks!

A/B Box
I am looking to double track guitar/bass, so I need to split the signal coming from the instrument with one high impedience line (1 MOhm) going to a guitar amp, and one line-level going to a mic preamp's line-in.

concerned about partition
hi,
i've just reinstalled windows XP the last few days, and i've noticed under Disk Management, that C:/ (windows partition) is a logical drive on extended partition with (boot) in brackets and D:/ (a temp partition i created for Internet temp files and page file) is a primary partition with (system) in brackets.

Worm. .
Obviously I'm sure most of you have heard about the new worm that is infecting most Win2k and XP users.
Make sure you either update your anti virus, install a firewall and or get the patch for the security hole(grand canyon hole is more like it!) that is unfritunate in the MS OS!
Cheers
Opus :D

Jitter question...
I was made aware of "jitter" a while back, and was curious if anyone could tell me how my setup faired in regards to jitter, and also if there's an advantage to using something like Apogee's Big Ben.

Near-field Monitors positioning.
OK, I've heard everyone say to place your Nearfield Monitors in an equilateral Triange to your listening position. I'm fine with that.
But I also remember concerns with Phase distortion when speakers are angled towards the center.
So, which do you prefer?
A) Nearfields pointing STRAIGHT OUT, parallel to each other...

Noise Reduction Plug-in
Okay, they say I can't use DiNR with Pro Tools LE. Any suggestions out there? Just got offered a short film job and the sound is [explitive deleted] HORRIBLE! It's about 18 db below nominal level and eq, gating, etc. just won't cut it on the sample piece they gave me. HELP!
:d: :s:
Thanks,
Uncle Bob
