Thinking of adding an A/c line conditioner to my rack ( modest )..

1st reason, having all units plugged to same place will help with lack of outlets and creepy crawler power cables all over the place,, lol

but also because i feel it will help over all sound,,

I am a very inexperienced rookie when it comes to recording and I don't quite get the concept of phase cancellation. Could someone give me a rough explanation? thanks.

I know that this is the question that just about every home recording person asks. I'm actually asking because what I hear sounds VERY different in spite of my equipment.

after I mix then bounce my songs they always comes out to bassey.I'm using events ps5 to monitor.
what should I do to correct this problem?

I am in the proces of building a small studio for recording accustic -folk -bluegrasstype -music. And I am using mics like u67s and AKG c 12 vr.
I record to a 8 track harddisc with the mics going through universal audio tubepreams and v72 and v76.(no mixer in the chain)

I'm using Pro Co Excalibur cables currently, which are 20'. I'm wanting to cut down on excessive cable length to ensure the highest quality recordings as possible on my home studio budget.

1) Including the patch cable, and entire routing, what total cable length should I be shooting for, with an unbalanced cable?

So what would you guys recommend for monitors with a budget between $1000 - $1500? We are starting to do a lot more serious projects and need to upgrade from our Alesis monitor1mkII's.

I learned audio produciton on the tape and inline boards but am very computer literate and have dabbled a bit with cubase, pt, wavelab, etc.

I have purchased a computer: p4, 3ghz, 1g Ram, 80g, 120g, asusp4p800deluxe. .

I have read a lot about phase issues, but don't really understand what it is, or what things would sound like when there is one. Please help me understand this.

How do you get those really perfect polished sounding tambourines that you hear on records today? You know the ones I'm talking about. Anybody care to share your techniques? Samples or live?
