Could you suggest something here? I have to make a CD from tape for commercial release. It's classical piano. The original tape was recorded using dbx noise reduction :roll: , so after decoding all quiet passages have kinda poooofs--you know what I mean. Is there any way to get of rid of that?

Ok, I've done a lot of research and talked with a lot of people on these forums for gear advice and have now narrowed it down to my final decisions on what pieces of gear to purchase. The only problem is that I can only purchase 1 or 2 items at this particular time. So I was wondering, which piece of gear should I purchase first, that will improve the quality of my recordings the most?

I have been using a Roland VS1680 but now I want to buy a delicated Computer for recording and get serious about it.

All the information about Computer recording can be mind blowing and I figure the first step even before I start to put together a computer system is to get a handle on which Software would work for me...

i own a rnc compressor and a Behringer autocom, i also record on a Roland VS 890. is it possible for me to get that professional sounding CD with what i've got? if not what affordable compressors and eq's can i get to get the job done? :D

Can anyone recommend a directX plugin or package that has vocal effects - such as 'robot' or 'telephone' or ? I would prefer to pay for it and have some quality than to download it for free and have it just take up room on my hard drive.

is this mastering software any good? if not can someone refer a good mastering software around the same price as the CDe architect

when running a song thru mastering software should an analizer be used? if so what should i be looking for? I'm having trouble judgeing the low end.thanks for any help. Jim
