Smallest Hard Drive with XPpro
I'm running XPpro on five PCs in our family. The sixth has Win98se on a 2GB HDD. It's my 4 year-olds. Can I get XPpro to run on a drive that small? He's running Dr. Seuss and the like (though he has already burned his first audio composition on Dad's system! - what a whacked out track!) and I'd like his PC to run like Mom and Dad's.
Thanks.

Anyone experience hard drive activity like this?
I'm importing all my 24bit .wav files (14 songs times two to eight tracks each) into n-Track last night and playing them for the first time in a multitracker. This is FUN! The files were exported on CD from my Tascam 788 digital portastudio (standard .wav format with no compression.)

Help choosing Hard Drives.. ata133 or 8mb buffer?
I just got the asus p4b533 with the built-in promise raid 133. I am going to run two hard drives for audio on the raid.
should i go for the maxtor 80 gigs which run at ata133, or the western digital 80 gig which only runs at ata100, but has the 8mb buffer?
Would the bigger buffer give me more performance? or the true ata133 speed of the maxtor?
Hard drive benching, Intel App Accelerator
Hey guys, just did a round of testing on some new drives and thought I'd share my finds with you fine people...
I've got 2 new drives in the new ANUS: an 80gig Maxtor D740X with fluid bearings, and the new Western Digital 120gig special edition with 8MB buffer.

Connecting hard drives/ CD-ROM, CD-RW
I found an old thread about this but didn't find a resolution. The thread contained advice from Opus indicating that each harddrive should be connected separately to it's own IDE controller, positioned on the connector closest to the motherboard, and that the CD drives should be slaved from them.

Hard Drive And Track Count
I am about to upgrade to HD3. My Hard drive is currently A Glyph 36 Gig SCSI (w/ my Mix Cubed). How will this work with HD in terms of track counts at different sample rates? Mainly, I think I'll still record at 44.1, but I want to be able to take advantage of the higher track counts allowed in HD. What do you recommend?

I put a boot disk in and do "format c:" nothing..all I get is "bad command...etc"
So i did the "fdisc" thing. I get this prompt that says "volume label" I have to list the volume label...What does that mean?

Hard drive from PC to VS880
Hey Curve (or anyone else)
I've got a spare 6 gig hard drive that I've removed from my PC and would like to install it in my mate's VS880. It still contains some PC stuff. Will the VS format it like it is. or do I have to wipe it first? Also, is there anything else I need to know before I do this?
Thanks
Mark
