Hello, Everybody I'm brand new to using hardware for years I've used software vsti's only but recently decide to buy a couple bits of hardware and I'm unsure on how to uses them with Live 9 software on PC, what I would like to do is write midi parts in Live 9 using the sounds from my EMU Proteus, Nord Rack 2x or if that's not possible record then direct to live.

Hello all. I'm moving into a bigger space soon and I need advice on how to complete my set-up.

My priorities are:
(a) recording real instruments, mostly acoustic (folk and Irish traditional) in a studio setting. No midi. I may have 7+ acoustic instruments and 7+ vocals to mix.
(b) having 16+ real faders (mixer or controller).

While I am not a newb (12 years with home studio) I have always had this underlying feeling that I have not ever set my system up just right. I have resisted asking for input as I certainly should know by now if I am properly set up and/or running as efficiently as I could be.

Has anyone used Sonar with the VS 700C in a hybrid application (full integration between hardware and software)? Is this DAW exclusive to ITB or does it have a nice workflow OTB too?
If I got the VS 700C, do I need to use their interface/ ADDA for it or can I use my interface and converters?

This is my first post on ANY studio/recording forums.

This has been debated many of times, but I would really like to know the opinions of the professionals on here.
Does a high-endoutboard compressor really sound better than a quality plugin ? Assuming you know what you're doing.
I'd also like to know the same for Limiters, gates, and reverb.

I have them both and the hardware sounds better.

Why?
I'll post an example of a kick but for now.
