Any Hi-End mastering studio headphone recommend?

I'm trying to improve our headphone situation. Basically I'm finding that the headphones (DT100's) distort at what I'd call medium volume. We have six pairs of these and they all seem to do it. I'm driving them from a Behringer powerplay headphone amp in mono. I'm wondering if headphones distort at different levels according to how their impedence match the amp.

I plan on purchasing a marantz PMD670 or a Fostex FR-2 and I'll Be needing a dual channel or 2 single channel battery powered preamps.

Also I'd like to get a CLEAN uncolored headphone amp... My budget would be pretty tight so spending 1300$ on a reference headphone amp is sorta out of the question.

I'm looking for a headphone monitoring system needs good power to drive at least 2 headphones per channel with at least 4 channels with and insert on each channel. We have a B*@%$#ger that is a junk the amps are underpowered just when it gets to the right level it clips like hell. The jacks are terrible. To sum it up it is worthless to us and we need something much better.

i am looking a pair of headphones for tracking and or mixing. i have a gift certificate for circut city and they have the bose triports. i was wondering if they might be a good pair to either mix with (i'm guessing the are probably not) listen to tracks as they are being recorded, or have those who are being recorded use them as they are preforming?

I am wondering what you all use for listening when mastering, speakers or headphones or both?

Hi there. I recently heard that many singers record their parts listening to playback through speakers rather than headphones, James Hetfield on the Black Album and Kurt Cobain on Nevermind were used in reference.

I'd like to get a new pair of Headphones, under $100.00. What would you recommend? They'd be for listening to my recording and mix after hours. Can good headphones only be purchased at Music Stores? I noticed some similar ones at stores like Best Buy, Frys, Circuit City, what do you think?

Are the pros using wireless headphones for recording? Or is that tabu?

We tried a pair last week & I didnt have any noticeble noise.
