Is it possible to use logic studio plugins and instruments with Digital Performer ?

I am trying to record Bass and Guitar through my Digidesign Mbox 2. I am DIing the instruments but there is a shocking amount of noise.

I know in a studio you'd have to use a DI box but I thought you didn't have to use them in this situation.

Ok I know that sounds dumb but it's the only way I could explain it. How do you get a guitar up high in the top of the left headphone, another one down the bottom etc etc.? Like Chinese Democracy, everything is so tight and in it's own space. I understand pan left and right, how do you get them up and down. Is it mixing frequencies? Anyone explain?

I have seen that many studios have a variety of gear to choose from. As far as my home studio goes... I have a really good bass rig (ampeg, rocktron etc) but nothing else. I need some advice, if i I should save for something like Tama Rockstar with zildjian cymbals, and may be some guitar equipment.

When I listen to most recordings of metal and heavier rock, it sounds like the frequencies of the guitars and bass were greatly limited to make way for most of the other instruments in the mix.

Hi I was thinking about purchasing a pair of instrument condensers, probably RODE NT5 pair. I want them for acoustic, drum overheads, piano, cello...

I already have an AT4033Cl, MXL990 condenser, MXL991 instrument condenser, and a sm57. With the mics I already have do you think I would even need to purchase a instrument condenser pair?

Does anyone know where to find the CC #'s for the new VSTi's?(Mystic, Spector etc). I'm trying to control them with my Axiom keyboard, i want to program the knobs/sliders etc.

In the past the cc's were in the manual, i can't seem to find them.
