My question is...what are some of the best compressors to use for tracking, mixing, or mastering? Out of these compressors which ones are worth buying? Behringer Tube Composer, ART Vla Pro, Avalon, Aphex, Jomeek, Dbx 160's, Focusrites, etc... If I didn't mention some great compressors...please name some :p .

Either a Sony 37a or cmv563 w several capsules. I would like to invest in one for now and either sell the other or put it away for another time. Both seem to work OK but have not been looked at for years. Can either can be modded to become a first rate mic.

I'm wanting to get some more channels of decent pre for my studio. I've got an API lunchbox now, which is great, but not enough. I may have a line on a TAC Scorpion 24x8. What are the Pre's and EQ's like on that bad boy? Would it be worth doing for a low price (under $1K?)

Currently I am working with an A&H mix wizard 14:4:2.

Now it is possible I'm deaf, but I ALWAYS seem to have this yearning to crank up the high-endon everything that comes through them, notably drums.

Is it me, or has anyone else experienced this with A&H?

I came across one of these 8 channel mic preamp beasts while digging through a pile of neglected semi pro gear I used to use. I remember that it seemed to sound sort of dark and muffeled in comparison to Neve or API pres and even the pres on my old MCI 600 console. Anyone know anything about these things? I heard somthing recently about an upgrade someone does and I am curious about that too.

I am looking into these interestingly low priced mics as an option, particulatly the C3.

Does anyone have any dibs on the SP line?
