time for dissent monitors&keyboard

The Korg Triton "Extreme" Keyboard

I know this board is fairly new so I would'nt expect too many replies on it. But I'd like to comment on their use of a 12AU7 tube as part of the audio/effects circuitry and the 120 note polyphony they've upgraded this thing to. I currently own a Triton rack so I can imagine how it may sound. Maybe the whole Triton thing has played out and this is their way of keeping a good thing going.

Keyboard straight into DAC?

I'm no a complete newbie, but I know this really sounds like it. Can someone clarify for me: I'm working at a studio where they have a keyboard out (balanced 1/4") patched straight into a patch-bay, then straight into the D/A of the HD interface. The signal always seems quite low and I'm wondering, is that the best impedence matching way to go? No console/pre-amp?

Sound Module vs. . Keyboard

I’m in to making Hip-Hop beats. I’m trying to find the best way in going about doing it so I don’t waste my money. I was really leaning towards getting a keyboard, make the beats on the keyboard load it into the computer. But, lately I’ve hearing Sound modules are the best affordable way to go (I guess if you’re always looking for new sounds).
