NS10 kick drum mic
Well thanks to Recorderman I got a mounting bracket, and finally got around to building this today. COOL! I soldered a small cable end to the old NS10 speaker (the one from the Guinness Incident), and a short-run to a MALE XLR connector.
:tu:

Kick Mic selection
What do you guys prefer in terms of the lower end ($200-350) kick mics. Sennhieser E602, AKG d112, ATM25 (heard a lot about it on guitar but never kick, as its advertised for) and so on. In the market for one and just wanted to test the waters here.

Hip hop kick upfront with compression
Everybody says that the kicks on hophop album are so in your face because of compression. Can some one explain. i hav tried it and it seems to make the kick louder but duller or lack of life. the hip hop kicks on the albums are clear present and still have a lot ofdepth and still jump through the speakers
thanks

Which mic is best for recording bass drum?
I see time after time when it comes to Micing a bass drum, some choose between a decent condenser or a high pressure (one that comes to mind is the AKG D112) dynamic mic. Some others are the Shure beta series. I know when eq is applied, it's usually curved or set around or about 100Hz. What's mostly used to get that deep thump on most recordings?
