computer/laptop based recording mixing etc.

hey I'm new to the recording production business kinda started with me wanting to make a quality demo of me playing without worrying about finding an actual studio. i was wondering if anybody could give me some tips on starting from scratch i.e. what programs to look for types of mics, computer adapters, etc.

thanks
Aaron

laptop audio/midi interface (PMCIA or USB?)

i am triggering theater sound effects and musical interludes during live performances and I would like to bring my laptop into the picture. I want to trigger the fx via midi keyboard and have a better quality audio OUT than the stock sound card

would you use a PMCIA card type interface or a USB type?
the smaller the device the better.

thanks
dave

The best laptop for location recording

Hey Ro'ers I need some solid advice on the best possible notebook for recording on location as well as occassional use in my studio. Right now I am working with a PC notebook and I can do the jobs that I need to do with it, but I find that I am hindered by not being able to use as many plugins as I would like because it just isn't fast enough.

Using the mkII (USB 2.0 version) with a laptop PC

I'm having syncronization problems with the mkII (the new USB 2.0 version) when I try to install it in a laptop pc. I get clicks, beeps, and silences. The CueMix console gives me back the following error message : "The CueMix is not in sync because the audio stream is not locked".
Does anybody knows if there is any known uncompatibility of the mkII with some kind of laptop pc.
