I can get hold of a pair of Peak Audio PSM-250A active monitors for $AUS399 (100WRMS, 6.5" + 1", claimed 35Hz-20kHz)...
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these monitors or whether they are a waste of time? They look fine on paper, but I won't have a chance to hear them before I buy.

Manufacturers (of cheaper monitors in particular) tend to embellish the lower range of their products- as you said, it's not impossible though... but I'm still wary because of the price.
Maybe I should just get them and be a guinea pig... just a shame I can't try them before I buy them (internet buying jobbie)
