hi, does low-latency is useful for pro-gamers?

But does a pro-gamer relly need a PCIe-DAC or does a Firewire-DAC ist good enough? I am not a pro-gamer, but i ask me the question. And i wan't to buy a good System for Gaming as well.

I am trying to fix latency issues I am having when playing VST synths.

I just did a test, recording midi with percussion controller, and simultaneously recording audio of the same performance with a mic placed next to the controller.

The results: the recorded MIDI note is always about 20 ms later than the recorded audio hit.

I've got a little vamp I recorded as a project that is currently Midi Drums (Superior Drummer) with a bass track and 3 guitar tracks (each played through my M-audio Profire 610 interface and using Guitar Rig 5 pro to model. Here's a quick mix:

I recently made a dramatic change to my gear. I updated my desktop pc to MacBook Pro and soon later I purchased new interface - UAD Apollo Twin Solo.

I am using couple of recording softwares i.e Sony Vegas 5.0 and Audacity.
My vocals starts little earlier than the music and music running little faster.
This is happening with all of my DAWs.while recording.
Please help by giving an appropriate answer!
