need help - old Mackie mixer for live recording!

Hi!

My friend has a karaoke cafe bar. He is using some kind of 16- mono channel live Mackie mixer (old one i guess, i can't remember the model). I have a problem finding the Record Out on that mixer.

On that one, it has Alt-Out 3/4, Bus Insert, and Aux Send something like that (no Tape In/Out). And on every channel it has a small button " Mute/ ALT 3/4".

Mackie Control

I'm seriously interested in a Mackie Control but I have a major question first. I do all my monitoring through an external desk, a Mackie D8b to be precise. Because I do this I have my buffer set to 2048 as latency isn't an issue and I get more out of my computer out of my computer. I can't remember the exact figure of latency but it is roughly 48 ms.

Mackie d8b

Hello,

Im just looking at buying a d8b and I have a questions.

Whats hooking the d8b up to a computer. The best way of doing this will be through midi correct? I want to use all the faders for mixing after I'm done all my tracking. How well will the record buttons work when tracking.
