Hi this is my first post here but these forums have helped me a lot in the past by reading others questions, so thanks.

I'm considering purchasing an mbox for my pc in order to collaborate with my friend that i'm recording with. at his house we're running the digi 002 and Pro Tools so it's pretty much a no-brainer what route to go.

Which one is better? How do these compare with M-audio Delta 1010 or Emu 1812m ? (I am only concerned about quality of sound, not so much about features...Please tell me about converters and such).

MIDI and DI does not an innovation make. Keeping it stuck at 48kHz doesn't help either. What a rip-off.

And it is ugly as hell. I'm glad I still have the original design.

I really thought it would be more like the Saffire. Looks like Focusrite will be getting my money instead.

Anyone know if there are any issues with running Pro Tools LE 6.4 with the Mbox running under Windows XP SP2? All I need to do is open some sessions that were given to me to see what is wrong with them...

Let me know if anyone has this scenario working ok or not! I unfortunately do not have access to PTLE 6.9.. I'm borrowing my friends basically!

How do I set up the MBOX to be used as my system's sound card? I don't see why it wouldn't be possible, but I'm wondering if anyone else has don/does it and if there are any complications in doing so. Thanks,

Ok... the small studio is ever a-changing, but at least the brain has been purchased... it is a Mac iBook g4 1.33mhz with 1.25RAM. I went for portability over power... This is best for the musicians I work with.

is it possible to record drums with an mbox? i know that some sort of external i/o device would be required to have enough inputs for all the drums mics, since the mbox only has two, but is there a device that does this?

if this wouldnt work, is drum triggering an alternative? what equipment would i need to purchase to make this happen?

The budget has been upped a little (thanks to my lovely wife), and this is what I am thinking (though it keeps changing) as a nice little system:

Reason 3.0

I'm not sure if its because I'm running OS 10.4 on my computer now, but I'm trying to open pro tools, and I'm getting a msg saying that the hardware is in use. i cant figure it out
