Anybody using new MAC pro vs. . old Mac? like? dislike?

I am still using a G4, and I am just curious if anyone is using the new Mac Pro with the intel chip. I like the G4, but I want to a new mac one for the speed (more tracks), but am a little hesitant because new components. I currently use Pro Logic and DP, may possibly use Final Cut. Would appreciate any feedback from experienced users.

wanting to record live music stages onto mac g4 please help

Hi thank you for any help as i am new to recording(this site rocks) I am a stage manager for a small production company and have only a mac g4 with digi pro 5 . 1)can I record right off a soundbaord with rca into mic jack and use digi pro? 2)what equipment and programs will i need to record a quality recording without the chance of losing a set?

imac studio

-I've just purchased an Intel Duo Core 2.0 gHz imac.

-Initially i will be using Logic Express.

-I'm going to bump the RAM up to 1.5 gig.

Originally i was going to use a Focusrite Saffire Pro or a PreSonus Firepod for my audio interface.

I was also going to buy a USB external hard drive with a 16 mb cache.

Mac mastering software

Just wondering if you guys mught have any suggestions for editing/mastering software for the Mac platform. I'm running Logic and am a bit frustrated by it's editing capabilites (or lack thereof). I really don't need "mastering" software, per se, as I'm going to be outsourcing my final mixes to someone more qualified, but I'd like the option to tweak my mixes beyond what Logic offers.

Pro Tools 6.4 w/Mbox 1 on mac HELP please

I am just setting up this studio for the first time, and I am having trouble picking up sound from the mic's. I am only getting a signal 1/10 of what it could be. I started using an SM57 and I thought "well, maybe its just the mic"; so I switched to my KSM27 condenser, turned phantom on, and still nothing (really). I checked all my levels and everything, everything looked good.
