But the highest spedd one is dual 2.7- they dropped the middle one to a dual 2.3 instead of the 2.5. they probably figured that if the middle one was 2.5 and the top one 2.7 people would not be willing to shell an extra $500 for it- this is probaly a good time to buy a 2.5 :D

I have posted a few times trying to get my mac to work and know i'm ready to toss it out the window! I have two computers and I'm looking for a temporary solution to get my studio up and running untill I can upgrade to a power book or dual g4 with my digi 001 or buy a digi 002.

I was just wanting some feedback on pros and cons of these two.
I was look ing at getting a PC built by sweetwater using Digidesign specs. When I asked the sales guy what the hype for the macs was he said "your just paying for the mystery and cooldaddy status of having a Mac". Whats up with that? I'm buying a Digi 002rack LE . Anyone?

what do you think about minimac for real-time audio apps like ableton?

What application and or sound card do i need to capture sound files(an interview) 2-3 hrs from a Sony himd minidisc. Sound stage, Sony's software 3rd party aplication is not supported by mac. These files need to be converted to aiff, mp3, etc.. for use to edit with.

I really like the new Digi EQ III, but the program is severley lacking in a useable compressor and limiter plugin . Can anyone recommend affordable (or free!) plugins for the MAC OSX? I'm particularly interested in a multiband compression plugin for the main stereo bus.

I should start by saying that I believe in getting a proper recording professionally mastered before release...

But I need some affordable plugins that are better quality than the stock digi plugins. This is for "home mastering" mixes to be given to fellow musicians, etc.. I'm pretty happy with the new EQIII that Digi just released, but the stock compressors and limiters...

just curious how many maximum tracks i can record with a powermac g5, using either a dp 2.0 or a dp 2.5 with around 3 gigs of ram, i need to record live shows and was wondering if recording 24 simultaneous tracks would bog down the computer? thanks.

I was wondering if anyone could validate this statement:

PC uses RAM more efficiently. What may be 4GB of RAM on a MAC G5 is equivalent to 2.5 maybe 3GB RAM on PC.

A friend of mine was trying to explain to me that the MAC does not use RAM as well.
