I'm setting up a composing/recording setup for home. It'll be built around Digital Performer or the new Logic when it comes out, and I'll be using a lot of virtual instruments. I can get a good deal on slightly used core duo 2.16 imacs now ($1k for a 20" or $1300 for a 24") or I'm wondering if I should wait for the new generation that will be out in a few months.

I recently purchased the saffire pro 26 (love it) and am using it on my PC recording with Sonar 6. However, I am looking to make my setup mobile by purchasing a MacBook. I currently have a 4 space rack with a power conditioner-Saffire-and a 2U drawer. I have never in my 27 years used a Mac and know absolutely nothing about them especially mac software.

So I noticed that Smith Micro now has an Anti-Virus software for Mac. So does this mean that someone has begun writing viruses for OS X? Who are these virus creators and why do they do it?

So I'm selling my iMac G5 (any takers?) to build the quad AMD that is over at the DUC.

Has anyone built any of the machines spec'd at the DUC? What has your experience been?

I have an iMac G5 2.16 GHz 1GB memory 250GB hard drive and an outdated digi 001. I don't have the money to purchase a digi 002 and prefer to keep the 001. I was jsut wondering since the digi 001 runs through a PCI card if there is any way I could connect it to my mac. Is there an external PCI slot i could purchase or possible an adaptor?

I'm moving my setup from my Mac to my PC. Im using the 001 and going from LE 5.2 to LE 6.4 on XP. Is there a way to convert my sessions so I can continue working with them?

I noticed in the upgrade manual it says you can save a session copy and for pc compatability, but i dont think 5.2 has that. any insight will be greatly appreciated.

ok the entry level mac pro is $1999 at macmall.com and the imac 24" is about the same price. Which should i go with? The advantage of the imac is that the screen is already there. The advantage of the mac pro is that it is completely upgradeble. Are there upgrades for the iMac?

I just need honest opinions of what you would do in this situation.

This is the first time upgrading and need some info.

I have a G5 2.5 with 2.5gb of memory, running OS 10.4.3 and Pro Tools LE 7.0 with a 002R. I'd like to upgrade my OS and go to PT LE 7.1 before I get left to far behind.
