MOTU 896HD vs Mackie Onyx 1220 with firewire card

How do those two compare?

I'd like to upgrade my studio to 8 inputs and better A/D converters (currently using a Delta 44). I want decent mic preamps built-in so I can quickly record a whole bunch of tracks.

I was thinking about the PreSonus Firepod but then found those two options which seem better.

Roland VS-2480 vs Mackie Onyx/Tracktion

I'm looking for opinions on which would be a preferred setup. I am currently using a Roland VS-1680 now and would like to upgrade to either the new VS-2480DVD or possibly going the PC DAW route with a Mackie Onyx 1640 including the firewire card which comes with Tracktion (Mackie's software) or maybe get Logic or Cubase. Is anyone using the Onyx firewire setup? If so what software?

Mackie 1402VLZ PRO & Delta 44 MPX 110

According to the PDF from Mackie Im supposed to use the Channel inserts( 1 click ) to send to my recording device, in my case my delta-44 - 4 ins. That Part works Great. I have my AUX send outs going to my MPX 110 then back to the AUX Returns. However it dosen't record it. I can hear the effects in the master out.

Mackie Onyx 1220 (or bigger) with Cubase SX3...

Just wondering if there are any members using an Onyx (1220, 1620, 1640) with Cubase SX3. and if so, how do you like it?

I recently purchased a 1220 and I'll be using it with Cubase SX3 and would really love to hear any pointers, tricks, tips or whatever as far as using the Onyx with Cubase! Setting up buses in particular... Help me get started any way you can. Thanks!
