Microphone test of vocal microphpones

A couple of Danish producers/engineers, among them Mr. Allan Bregnedahl and Torsten Matthiessen, got together this summer and tested as many microphones as they could get their hands on. A very interesting test, and I thought I would link to it here. It's in Danish, so I will just translate the introduction:

I was watching Alice in Chains Unplugged last night and during the song Frogs, Layne Staley uses some type of microphone that seems to utilize a smaller bandwidth to get a really cool effected sound. It looked silver.

Does anyone know what type of mic he is using? I would love to use one live.

Please help with microphone buzz/humming

Hi there,
My AKG C3000 microphone is picking up a lot of
noise in form of buzz/humming all of a sudden.
And when I touch the body of the microphone, the
noise volume increases. I even isolated my
microphone from my setup chain and connected it
directly to my mixer as a single source and it
didn't make any difference!

Ok, it's a given that nothing is like my 65 Jazz Bass, or my 77 Music Man. But the fact is, there are other basses that are in the ball park of these, and though the feel and sound is not exactly the same, there are at least some instruments that are similar.

So, with all these new LD condensor mics out there, is there something that is in the ball park of -
