running a nice preamp through an ok mixer

just looking for a little feedback to see if this makes sense

I have an emu soundcard, just has 2 inputs, so I run everything through an onyx 1640 mixer. so I just send whatever I want to record down through two sub outputs on the mixer and mute everything else. I'm pretty satisfied with the mixer for direct sound, like hooking up a synth or pod, drum machine, etc to it.

Altec 1567A mixer hum, help needed

I got an Altec 1567A mixer and hooked up a line level signal (like a CD player) to input 1 octal socket pin 7 hot and 8 ground. Pins 5 & 7 are linked. The output is connected to output octal socket pin 7 hot, pin 8 ground. It has a bad hum/low frequency buzz, I think its the way its hooked up. I don't think its the unit itself and I tried lifting grounds on everything except the mixer.

Recording Mixer to Digital Interface... bypass mixer faders?

Hello,

I've been recording for a while and I'm trying some new equipment out and I'm a little jammed.

I have a 24x24 SoundCraft Spirit Mixer and a PreSonus Firepod.

I want to run from my snake into the Soundcraft mixer (for use of it's great preamps and eq's) and the run lines out of those channels into my firepod (bypassing the firepods preamps).

Which gain/volume control should I use mixer or soundcard?

Hi all,
I am trying to get my levels sorted so that when I record an instrument the volume bars in my recording application (in my case Cubase sx 3) are just below the yellow and not clipping (not to loud, not too quiet).

So I put all of the volume/gain control to neutral but found the level was too low.

New Interface or Mixer?

Hey, just joined so I know that this question is probably already answered but I was just going to ask and then Ill do some more research. About a year ago I produced my own album, basically just a demo to get my name out there when I was playin shows. But I am moving in Aug, and I am going to be playing a lot more and start recording a lot more.
