Hello,

I recently purchased a Zoom MRS 802B 8-track digital recorder. Although, I have studied the user manuel mixing the tracks is a tricky thing for a beginner.

Can anyone give me advice on where or how to learn the basics of Mixing, panning, etc. Preferably, a free website or something.

I'm currenlty having trouble with the quality of mix downs in Cubase sx3, their not as powerful as what i'm hearing back during mixing (lacking stero space and power once played on other stereos etc). I also use a set of Sennheiser headphones as reference monitors whilst mixing to check placement etc etc

i seem to think tracking is a lot more important than mixing
ive heard some awesome music at the studio as it is being recorded
some of the best stuff ive heard
completely unmixed

Hey guys, I'm just looking for some advice and tips on mixing vocals... the vocals on my recordings always sound "out of place", I guess is the best way to describe it... they don't seem to blend well, and I can't figure out how to fix it.

Another amateur hour question. Recording my daughter's symphonic band as a favor to the band director (and my daughter). The director, Diana Love is retiring after many years.

I use Adobe Audition 2.0.

My Computer is:

Pentium 4 3.2
512 Ram
Windows Xp SP2

Recording Interface:
PreSonus Firepod
Shure SM57

I'm looking for a good program (not audicy or sound forge)

Something that would work on for everything.

I have Cubase sx3 but i havent planned on using it.

I am currently using KRK St6 Monitors ( Passive)
How much difference wil I hear say going to higher end Passive Monitors?
Will they be more defined? Will they enhance how I hear fine details and stereo image?
Give me what you got Passively so to speak!

I already got the UA Tutorial Onscreen DVD. That was nice. I'd like to check out some more, perhaps some with a bit more depth.

I'm especially concerned with recording, equalizing, and compressing vocals. Also to learn some more mastering tequniques.
