Tracking / Mixing bass

How do you usually record bass?. I remember reading a post here where this guy was giving some tips. He was always using both DI and mic`ed up cab. Then he would compress the DI signal and boost the low end on the mic signal (or vise versa)... And then blend the signals... I tried to search for that thread with no luck.

Looking for a mixing 'course'

Hello All,

I have been creating mixes on my DAW for the last few years, and would consider my abilities/experience at maybe a 3 out of 10. I've no training and feel as though I'm kind of operating in a vacuum here.

I started out with the "audio pro home recording course" with Bill Gibson, and it certainly got me going, but I'm ready to move past that level.

Mixing: Heavy Metal

What is the starting point to mix all this stuf?

We are done with recording guitars and drums, only bass left(me). WOHO!
Both guitarists doubled their guitar track with a different effect. So We have total of 4 guitar tracks. They sound really heavy, but little muddy, because there are 4 of them and they are not equed at all...
