Recording a solo violin in stereo or mono
Hi, I'm just starting out and want to exclusively record solo violin. I wondering if it's better to record it in stereo or mono? Considering that I'm just starting out, would it wiser to spend my dollars on a better quality mono setup or a lesser quality stereo setup. Thanks.

Stereo/Mono
Please forgive my ignorance, but can someone tell me the difference between recording something in stereo as opposed to recording mono and then doubling it and using two channels? I mean, if you are using the same mikes, do you place them differently to capture a different part of the sound? Whats the deal?

Stereo overdubbing, phase issues and acoustic mono...
Hey everyone!
I have some issues with a mix that has been bothering my noodle for the last two days. After this, I will be more in line to use the audio analyzers a little more often though
Mono signal input to a stereo sound card
hello everyone,
when connecting the output of a MONO device (guitar/di box etc) ie a 1/4" mono jack plug to the 1/8" stereo 'line in' of a sound card is the mono signal wired so as to 'split' it between the 2 stereo channels or is it just fed into 1 channel leaving the other 'open'?

Stereo ---> mono

This is my setup:
PC with Audiophile 2496 so 2ins, 2outs and SPDIF
Waldorf Pulse synth (for bass)
Boss DR202 drum machine
...and I am trying to buy a second synth for pads / leads etc. The synth I want has SPDIF I/O. So I was thinking about connecting it up like this:

Stereo vs. . Mono Recording
I would just like some feedback on the differences between stereo and mono while recording. I have adobe audition and i was wondering if recording in mono is any different then stereo? I'm only able to record in mono but when i do a mixdown it's put into stereo.

Samples... Stereo or Mono?
Hey all, quick question:
When putting samples into Pro Tools and mixing them within the drums, vocals, bass, etc.., is it better to keep them Mono or Stereo?
Does it all depend on how busy the sample is?
Thanks!

DISTRESSOR, mono or stereo?
Hey, everybody!
My question refers to drums: room mic compression. I currently have two EL8 momo distressors. I like them on the room mics but, would it be better to use a stereo EL8 insted? would there be a difference? and if not, whats the point of offering a stereo unit? if you get the same results with two mono units at a cheaper price? thanks for any opinions.
