thinking of buying a Neumann u87 in 2nd hand... help
hey
i'm starting to add stuff to my studio
i want good mics and preamps
i live in portugal and a Neumann u87 new is around 2700 euros but i know a guy who's selling it for around 1300 euros! i think i can pull it off to 1000 euros but...
how can i see it is in mint condition? i mean the membRane or stuff inside which i cannot see from outside!
Is the AT4050 a Neumann U87ai Clone?
Is the AT4050 a Japanese copy of the Neumann?
They seem very similar in many ways. I'm curious about the coloration between the two. I own an AT4040.
The intent is putting a multi-pattern mic on my wish list.

Neumann U87Ai or U87i? That is the question
What is the difference in these two models? Which is "Better"? I've seen both for around $1500 used. These mics seem to be a standard (along with their more expensive relatives) in good studios, but are they really worth the cash, or are there less expensive mics that sound "as good" or "better" than the U87?

Neumann U87 vs. . U87ai
What is the difference between these two mics? does anyone consider other mics to be sonically equivalent to the U87 (soundelux, etc.)?

Should I sell the U87 to buy a Mix Farm?
In a quandry... I have a Mix+ system, running on a G4/933. But even still I find myself running out of DSP on serious mixes. I want to buy a used Mix Farm, but I can't really afford it. I've used a U87ai for about seven years. But since I bought a Lawson L47 a few years ago, that has been my "go to" mic about 95% of the time. The U87 just kind of gathers dust.

U87 or TLM 103, AT4033 (+change)...
Would it be wise to purchase a U87 as the main LD condenser 'workhorse'... or have the flexibility of utilizing the TLM 103 AND the AT4033? (I know I could get 2 of each for the price of the U87!)This is an important decision for me; my business partner and I will be opening up our 24 track digital studio (Mackie D8B/HDR) by the end of September, and this is the only gray area...

M147 or U87 for Vox?
Hi guys,
Firstly thanks to those of you who advised on a big band recording I had to do with limeted mics, was a great sucess, thanks! :p )
Budget will stretch to buying a U87 or an M147 for this purpose.
I am inclined to go for the M147, but would much appreciate any views on this.
Thanks

Neumann U87 modified by Klaus Heyne
I was talking to someone the other day that mentioned Old Neumann U87 modified by Klaus Heyne or Brauner VM-1 KH (again re-modified by Klaus) Anyone here have any of those mics? Can you tell me about them?
Thanks!

Diff. between U87 and U89?
Someone lent me a U89i, so I was wondering how does it differ from the U87? I don't own a U87, but I'll be having the U89i for a while. I tried to do a little search on my own, but haven't been able to find anything yet. apart from that it is a bit smaller than U87...
