Brauner Phantom C vs. . Neumann TLM49 & GR ME1NV vs. . John Ha

I try to find a "perfect match" for voice-overs, narration, spoken word stuff in terms of choosing right mic with appropriate preamp. My choice is narrowed to those mics and preamps mentioned in title. Phantom C & GR ME1NV / Neum TLM49 & j.Hardy M1-or other way around ..? And unfortunatly I can't try those by myself.

Any help is more than welcome.

Cheers,

Sven

Neumann or Royer

Hello all. I have recently purchased a set of Neumann KM184 mics and a set of Royer R-121 mics. The problem is that I can really only keep one set, but I don't know which ones to choose. Obviously they both have their own sound and ideal purpose. Can anyone please give me some advice on this? Is there a good reason to keep all of them? Thanks much!

Neumann u47/valve mics question

I am currently looking for a really nice mic to invest in. I would like to keep the price low but for nice I know that really isn't a option. I used a mic at a friends studio a while back for synths and vocals called the Neumann u47. It was made somewhere around the 50's. I am trying to find something of similar variety. Does anyone happen to know anything about RODE mics?

my Neumann :( please help...

My pride and joy (U87 w/ Klause Heynes mod) is distorting any time it's being pushed with loud vocals. I've tried different pre's, cables, and other mics and everything is pointing to my Neumann. (my other mics sound great) Is there a certain way I should try the switches / configuration on the U87. Right now both switches on the back of the mic are "Open". Not sure...

KM84 vs. . KM184

Can someone tell what the big deal is about the KM84 vs KM814? Why do the 84's sell for so much more money? Is it due to supply and demand since the 84s are no longer made or is there really that big of quality difference between the newer and older versions?

I appreciate any/all comments from those who have done the a/b with both models...

Thanks!
