Blue U47

hey guys, just wondering what Neumann U47 restored by BLUE were worth compared to all original U47s, considering the capsule, tube, transformer, wiring etc are all new. Adding a U47 in good working condition to my gear list would be great, but without the original guts of the mic it's no better than some U47 copy, right?

thanks!

Neumann KM84 substitute?

Forums

Anybody have any ideas on a reasonable substitute for old KM84 SDC mic. I really like the sound of this mic om acoustic fiddle but dang they are pricey and hard to find in good condition. I really like the unhyped top end this mic exhibits.
I've tried the KM184 and it is not the same beast at all. Any clues on a reasonably priced substitute SDC mic ?

Neumann BCM104 - quick test

Forums

I just did a quick and dirty comparison of a mic I was considering buying for studio - the BCM104. I was attracted to it because it uses the 04 capsule which is used in the Solution D - a very expensive mic - while the BCM104 is well below 1000. It was made for broadcast and those are often good studio mics (look at the PL20, RE20 etc).

Neumann U87 vs U87Ai whats the difference

Forums

I'm searching for a professional microphone for recording vocals and acoustic instruments. I've heard about the Neumann U87. It should be a very good item for this recording situation but the company Neumann only produces now the new model U87Ai. Can anybody tell me what the differences are between the two mics?

thx.
