Newbie - Live recording
I'm 41 and I'm a newbie. (Crowd) HELLO NEWBIE!
Yea I'm a digital recording newbie anyway. The last time I recorded anything(1977) we hung two mikes by some wires from the roof into a small mixer and then into a 1 track stereo reel-2-reel. Did it sound good? No. Did it work? yes.

Newbie Blues...
I just picked up a P4 1.7 Ghz PC with fairly good hardware but I have just a Soundblaster PCI 128 as a sound card. I realize in the future that I'll need to purchase something(sound card)more powerful to really do some damage but I just wanted to get things on the road for the time being.

Newbie Problem
I have a quick question, I'm using PT Free and when i go into record, I arm the track and press record on the transport window, when i try to press space bar or play to start recording, nothinbg happens, yet when I select a region in the edit window and press record, it will record. What am I doing wrong for it not to record without me highlighting a region?
Thanks
Ryan

newbie question
i was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction.
i'm planning on doing some software synthesis along with effects and sampling. so far i've found that Cubase will be my mixing console.
i'm looking for good quality synthesis, i've found: crusher-x live (a granuler effects program) very cool
maybe some native instruments programs
