Thanks for checkin this out! I need some advice on setting up my home audio workstation. My band consists of my cousin (piano) and myself (bass). We use a drum machine for our drummer. For the last 2 years, we have been recording on a Zoom MRS 802b 8 track recorder. Well, to make a long story short, the recorder died on us.

Hello all - brand new here. I'm interested in making found sound recordings and picked up this Sony portable recorder. I'm still getting to know it, but have a basic question: will the on-board limiter actually adjust the incoming signal, or will it apply a post-recording filter to the wav file?

I'm a complete noob and want to record track by track (me alone) and so some sequencing/looping.
I plan to build the following setup:
1. A linux machine with rt kernel
2. ECHO Audiofire 4 (yet to buy)
3. mic to define (sm 58?, some diy with WM-61A?) to record voice and conga/kalimba/bongo (yet to buy)
4. Line in from Rockman + Guitar

What is a good condenser microphone for recording vocals? Ive got $150.00 to spend and kinda on a budget right now.But i need a good mic for only recording vocals.The type of music Im trying to create is a mix of R&B and Rap.I would need a microphone good for vocal harmonies and singing mostly. thx for your help any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Ive been trying to set up my electric guitar to play thou my speakers or record and play back but i have absolutely no experience.

my guitar is a cheapo fender using the amp with the headphone cord going to my sound card and inboard audio but its proving to be more difficult than i anticipated

I am having some trouble and hoping I can get some answers from some more experienced people here.
I use Nuendo III, Firestudio 26 X 26, and just bought a Behringer HA8000.
I know that I should be able to get a good headphone mix with this equipment, but I'm not.

Capturing room reverb, mic placement, interface questions from a newbie.

I suppose you could say I am a noobie when it comes to recording, however, I have been in music for quite some time and have done a decent amount or recording on my own. I was in a touring band Bidwell (myspace.com/bidwell) and we got some pretty well produced songs out of it.
