Please review my proposed setup (well researched newbie!)

Hi there,

I'm looking to build a setup for use both at home initially (vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, keys, percussion) and subsequently a fuller band with electric guitar + drums. Eventually recording live. I've included as much info as I can for you!

My proposed setup is as follows:

Newbie needs help.

Hi everybody,

My name is Ben from Sacto, CA.

Im just starting to get my feet wet with recording, I have played guitar for 10 years and now Im looking to do a solo project of covers.

My question is I need to know what else would be useful to me, as far as Recording Equipment goes at a reasonable cost. Here is what I have so far, Ill include my music gear.

Newbie here. Questions. FireStudio Project?

Hi, Im gathering up stuff to cut an album. Im looking at the FireStudio Project.

The big thing is, I want to have atleast 8 mic inputs.

I've heard about a lot of "technical" problems with these, but I dont care about those, because I've studied all the fixes, and I'm also a computer tech by trade. I have a beefy "hackintosh" with 2.66 dual core and 4 gigs of hyperX Ram.

Im a newbie for this

Forums

I have set myself the task of re-mastering a led zeppelin track for practice as they are fairly quiet on some of the tracks.

How ever I know very little about mastering.. but I do want to give it a go. Is it all about getting the volumes up or the quality or both?

Also is it mostly just fiddling with EQ and compressors? Or is there other important factors..

Newbie question: Programs that have sounds for midi keyboard

Not sure what forum this belongs on, but... What programs (XP) offer differant sounds to use with a midi/usb keyboard? And what are some of the better ones? Such as the sounds offered in Apple's Garageband, like Grand Pianos, Synths, strings, SFX, etc. Things that can be played with a midi/usb keyboard.

Thanks in advance.

Newbie - Mastering LIVE recording - echo, reverb, bass issue

Greetings,

Through a friend's suggestion, I have found my way to this forum to get a push in the right direction toward "cleaning-up / re-mastering" a LIVE U2 show that was recorded in the old Seattle Superdome. This venue is (was) a MASSIVE concrete structure, made for baseball and not a rock show. As a result, there is much "room noise" and "reverb / echo" present.
