I recently decided id like to give some home recording a go with a friend of mine and try putting together a few half decent songs between us. So i decided to invest in a small amount of gear to help out. I should point out I'm almost a 100% newbie when it comes to recording music. I have a small knowledge!

I'm new to setting up gear and I'm trying to figure out how to set up my board to my computer so I can record 8 tracks into pro tools, then play back from pro tools and mix on my board.

I started experimenting with DAW's and pre made samples ripped from a sound engineering magazine free CD some years ago. Actually i was working with magix music maker and some magix plugins and vst. After i formated my pc, i used Samplitude but without any plugins, but this time mainly for recording my guitar jamming and stuff.

I am new to audio interfaces and I have a few questions. I know that most of these should probably go directly to Tascam as pre-sales questions, but I'm wondering about the issues in general and how the answers apply to any brand of audio interface.

1) Is the audio signal sent into the computer through the USB connection? If so, what is the purpose of the unbalanced RCA jacks?

I have lots of music which I ripped with a HiFi turntable, the sound is very clean ish but a bit to conservative for my taste.

Hey there RO! I just joined this forum. I'll make this easy. I'd like to have a large diaphragm condenser mic. My budget is under $500 ($300 would be perfect). I'd also like to have a ribbon mic but I'm not sure there are any in my budget range.

hi guys ive been producing for a while on Cubase now and I'm in the process of now doing my first mix and am veryyy confused regarding levels and such, not balancing, since i want to do that after getting peak levels understood and set.

Hi all, I have not messed with recording equipment digitally ever. It was all laborous computer free, stop, restart start again, if you're lucky don't start all over, but most of my recording was live anyway so that didn't matter. Mistakes and all were there for the world to see since I traveled when I used to sing.
