I am new to the forum and new to recording as well. I hope that what I am proposing is not too crazy.

Just had my first orchestra recording today. Came up with decent mic techniques using this forum and my good 'ol SOS subscription.

I am recording a concert in September of Bach cantatas in a large, reverberant church made of stone. I have about 1 hour to 90 minutes to set up at most, so my rig has to be fairly simple.

I am an Orchestrator/Producer/Pianist in Venezuela, with 30 yrs. experience in studio work, and from 5 yrs. now I have my own proyect studio (Built on PTLe).

Ok. I know this is a hotly debated topic, so I suppose it deserves a thread of its own.

Does anyone get good results with this approach?

Do any of you have experience with Garritan Personal Orchestra or MOTU Symphonic Instrument? I was just about set to go with Garritan when MOTU's product came out. MOTU's product seems to have a larger sample library, but it isn't listed under their products on the MOTU website, which makes me nervous about support (Garritan is supposed to have extraordinary support).

Any thoughts?
