57's vs. . cheap condensers for overheads
Hello everyone. I'm going to be recording live drums for the first time in a couple of weeks and from the reading I've been doing on this forum I'm thinking 1 mic for the kick and 2 overheads to start out with. Right now all I have in my mic locker are 57's and 58's, 1 AT PRO 25, 1 AT PRO 37 and 1 AKG c3000b.

VS! Help picking between these overheads.
Since I had so much help here last time with my questions, I've come with another. I'm now on a very tight budget for the rest of my stuff. I have got some SM57's and a D112. Right now I'm looking for some overheads.

What's your favorite overhead technique
ORTF, XY, spaced pair, recorderman method..
I tried all of these last night.
1. ORTF gives the best clearest imaging. Everything seems to be placed well. Toms sounded the the best with it. And cymbals imaging seemed to pretty tight.

Hey all,
Just wondering all your techniques for drum kit recording. Overheads.

good pair of overhead condensers and. ?
greetings,
i'm going to have to go on a shopping spree (if you can call it that)...
and i need to get a good pair of condensor mic's as my drum OverHeads. I wanted them to be somewhat useful in other applications as well (Micing acoustic guitar for example). I was going to pick up some SM81's but i thought i'd see what you all thought about that first...

overheads mics
I'm in the market for some budget overheads mics. Looking to spend no more than $500 for the pair. They'll be used mainly for rock and blues music. I've got my eye on a pair of the Shinybox 23C's but the figure-8 pattern worries me cause my drum room ceiling is only 7.5' (2.28m). Do you think I could get away with it if the ceiling is treated for early reflections?

2-channel mic preamp for overheads?
I'm trying to make up my mind about what mic preamp I should get. I'll mainly be using it for drum overheads and overdubbing vocals.
I initially wanted to get an ART MPA Gold or Pro MPA but the more I read about them the more apprehensive I am. I've seen the specs for both but can anyone tell me how they actually sound?

Overhead Mic Choices
Hey guys, I'm not at the point where I can be picky about which mics I'm using just yet, but I'm trying to get the bases covered. I want some decent stuff. I have a d112, and a sm57, I'm looking to buy the sytek 4 channel mic preamp and two decent overhead mics. Kind of get some decent rock drum sounds going.
