I had a long string of success in downloading unpacking (with winzip) and using plugins. However, the last few times have been problematic, and I do not know why. Just now I had problems with a demo version of Brainworx BX-XL.

running my pro tools 8 and also using logic. wanted to know some good sounding harmonizing plugins that you pros use. thank you for your feedback.

why on earth is my computer having performance issues with Sonar PE 8 (8.0) when I try to use a couple of plugins?

Just got wind of this from UAD. Modeled from an actual Studer A800. They don't mention what tape they are using but it sounds easily as good as HEAT IMHO. No calibration. No need for biasing. Hmmm is it too good to be true?

I know there are a few of you out there who have UAD cards. The studio where my daughter interned has one and she raves about the Fairchild compressor plugin (among others). With ADC in PT9 this seems a more viable option for me. Questions I'd like to throw out to those of you who own them:

I have to confess that I often have difficulty telling whether my compressor plugins are actually functioning. I do not hear them the same way as I hear an outboard compressor in a guitar rig. Is this typical? Are plugin compressors more subtle? Does anyone else have difficulty hearing their plugin compressors at times?

I am confused by the mastering plugins. Can any comp/limiter be used to boost levels during mastering, or does one need a dedicated mastering plug in?
