Description

A preamplifier, also known as a preamp, is an electronic amplifier that converts a weak electrical signal into an output signal strong enough to be noise-tolerant and strong enough for further processing, or for sending to a power amplifier and a loudspeaker. Without this, the final signal would be noisy or distorted.

preamps

Im lookin for new preamps to replace my firestudio project

First of all, is it possible to use the FSP just for its preamps, and have it output to a separate interface?

If not, what 8 channel solid-state pre would you recommend?

Also, what 2 channel tube pre would you recommend?

TRS out of mic preamp into mixer = bypass mixer pre?

i do all my tracking with a Mackie onyx mixer w/firewire

if i buy a separate preamp (isa one, trident, whatever) then i obviously want to bypass the onyx pre. if i run the 1/4" output of a preamp into the 1/4" input of the onyx mixer, then i'm bypassing the onyx's preamp, is that correct?

just making sure my ducks are in a row before i go out and buy lots more gear

preamp and MIDI

one day I'll get a preamp but right now it's just the mbox and I'm thinking about rerecording my songs and I'm wondering if I'll have to rerecord my drum tracks because they're done in REASON 4.0

so if the drums are a MIDI track originally and then sampled REASON drums would a preamp have any effect on it?

Getting signal from an outboard preamp to Pro Tools

I am having trouble getting any signal from my Firestudio 26/26 to my Digi 003 control surface. I have it connected via a firewire cable plugged into the back of the 003, as well as lightpipe. The Firestudio CPL software recognizes that the preamp is connected, and even the Pro Tools Le software shows that I have eight ADAT inputs.
