I have an MBox would u recommend any external mic preamps and comps.

I've seen a couple of posts elsewhere about the Apogee Mini-Me where users complained that their preamps are a little on the noisey side. Would users here agree that this is the case?

Hi. I'm looking to spend no more than $1500 on a 1 or 2 channel mic preamp. It will be used to record rock music, and will be used on everything. The units I've been considering that fall within this range are:

UA M610
UA 2108
Great River ME-1NV
API 512c
Focusrite ISA428

Just wondering if you guys tend to use specific preamps for specific types of music ?

Maybe use Universal Audio 2-610 for Jazz, soft rock, etc
Manley for metal, hardrock, etc etc..

I wanna give my guitarsound a bit of a tube sound. But i dont have the money to get myself a good tubeamp. I own a Pod XT, which i think it sounds good, not perfect but good. Is it a good idea to setup a tubepreamp like a mic. preamp or a tube compressor behind the XT? Ive saw some a Focusrite which looks very nice.

ok, i'm very limited, but my band is trying to make a demo. i have a the M-AUDIO Delta 10/10LT interface, and Logic is my platform.

my selection of mic's are:
3 sm 57's, the Audix Drum mic 6 pack(2 condensers overheads, 3 tom mics, one kick) i also have a regular seinnheisor vocal mic.

I am currently using a PreSonus Tube Pre as well as Mackie and Behringer board preamps with a CAD GXL 2200 and am not unhappy with sound. The GXL 2200 is very clean if a little on the bright side, and the PreSonus has tons of gain. I am looking to add another vocal mic or 2 and a quality preamp. I am considering the Safesound P1 and the Speck Model 5.

I hate to beat a dead horse because I've read almost every post tackling this subject, but I need some personalized help.

I'm using a Tascam FW1884 and tracking to hard drive using Cubase SX 2.0. I'm using the on board pre's and here is my mic list:
