Description

A preamplifier, also known as a preamp, is an electronic amplifier that converts a weak electrical signal into an output signal strong enough to be noise-tolerant and strong enough for further processing, or for sending to a power amplifier and a loudspeaker. Without this, the final signal would be noisy or distorted.

old new preamp 3340

I have an old TEAC 3340S I dont yuse it from ten years now, this weekend I plug a Senh 421 in and I compare with my Sebatron vmp-2000 and my Studioprojects VTB-1, the Sebatron have a more full and warm sound, the VTB-1 his thinny and a bit harsh, the 3340 have a nice sound, less bass then the Sebatron but he have a warm sound and that give me four extra pre free.

preamp upgrade

yup another one of those 'what preamp shall i buy' topics..
But my question is subtly different..
I have a Focusrite platinum voicemaster right now, i use the eq normally, then run through a urei1178 ..With a condenser I'm getting pretty nice vocal sounds, and my dynamic guitar sound is fairly o.k.
BUT. .I have just bought a Shure SM7B dynamic mic, for rock vocals

I'm currently selling a lot of my gear and have around $2000 to $3000 to spend on a quality mic preamp or some type of DI to get me the sound I need.
