Error Help with Fostex MR-8? Please!
Forums
My MR-8 doesn't seem to want to recognize my CompactFlash card. Each time I turn on the console, it says: "Card Error - Error 09." The MR-8 manual doesn't specify anything about card errors.
Does anyone know what I could do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Novice Recorder with many questions
Forums
Well this is my first time experimenting with recording so I'm a NOOB.
I am using adobe audition 1.5, a soundblaster audigy Z2S sound card, and a regular stand-up mic I found around my house(no mixer because I'm cheap!)
Well the first question is how can i edit my voice recording to sound the best it could possibly sound with the equipment at my disposal?

suggestions for a portable recorder
Forums
Hi!
I'm thinking about hanging around recording sounds (animals, cars, noises, whatever) to try and play with them. And so i need a portable recorder... 2 tracks ought to be enough (mono or stereo miking), and needs to be plain simple to use.
I was thinking about a minidisc... any suggestions?
By the way, can I use other mics than those designed for the minidisc?

Small digital recorder
Forums
I've never dealt with portable recorders so I could use some advice. All I need is 1-2 channels with built in mic preamp's and a monitor out put. It has to be able to record 1-2 hours of audio at a time. It doesn’t need to be high quality just clean. I just want to record the pasture doing his sermon at church.

Nagra
Forums
I've been meaning to ask about Nagra for a while.
Of course DAvid is a user (didn't you post that wonderful piano recording a while back using your Nagra and AMEK 9098?). Sorry if I'm wrong.
On the few occasions I've been in the presence of Nagra gear I've been gob-smacked.

amp/limiter before CD-recorder?
Forums
Hi,
Just wondering if I should be putting some sort of extra gain control device with limiter function between the send from my mixer and my CD-recorder? I had something like the Behringer mic100 in mind, except I'd need two - one for left & right, right?
Any comments would be appreciated.
Ian.

CPU vs Digital Recorder
Forums
I have been reasearching for about 2 months now and after pretty much deciding on a Dual 1.8GHz Power Mac (I would add about a gig of ram), an Mbox w/Pro Tools, and probably Reason, someone has turned me onto the idea of just getting a nice digital recorder instead.

CD recorder - balanced vs unbalanced input?
Forums
Hi,
I'm looking at the Tascam RW-750 and the HHB CDR-830 for recording a send from my mixer - both units have unbalanced RCA inputs. The recorder will sit right next to the mixer so the cable run will only be short. I was wondering if it is worth spending the extra money to get a unit with balanced inputs...
Any comments/advice would be appreciated.
Ian.
