I don't know if this belongs here or not... It's kind of a follow up to the "Gear means nothing" thread... in a way.
I'm finding that I'm really loosing a LOT of additional income by strictly being a mobile service.

About 6 years ago as a freelancer, I wanted to announce a deal to all my manager / band and label contacts, that I was available at a cool little studio that I had struck a deal with, for a "special rate" (Studio lock out) + me).. So I invented - the "Jules Fax Update". I faxed a one page outline of the 'deal' to about 200 people - IT WORKED!

There are two old sayings in the recording industry: The first is, "You Can't Polish A Turd". The second aying goes along with the first, "You CAN Polish A Turd, But All You End Up With Is A Shiny Turd". That's happened here a number of times, and why it happened might help some of you out.
