Cellar Live Room Expansion (NYC)
Hello, all -
(This is a new plan for a studio discussed in a previous thread in this Forum.
Cellar Studio Conversion: Sound Isolation of Glass Patio Doors & Window?
Since the plan has completely changed, I thought it best to begin a new thread).

recording a violin in a small room
Man, this X/Y sounds pretty decent in a small room. What mics are these?

Newbie Control Room Acoustic Treatment help
Hello everyone, my name is Gianluca and I'm writing from Italy.
I turned a basement into a recording studio, but I need a hand to the acoustic treatment.
Floor, ceiling and walls are covered with wood. Under the wood there is a layer of lead, polystyrene and moisture resistant material.
The dimensions are:
Length: 4m
Width: 2.56mt
Height: 2.7 meters

Room Placement of my Acoustic Treatment?
Hello all,
I just bought 9 pieces of rigid fiberglass board, 3# density (Johns Manville 814). 24"x48"x2".
I have lots of acoustically transparent burlap to wrap the panels in, and mounting hardware, for walls, corners, and ceiling.

About guitars and room tone.
I'm having a hard time with it. I've heard great room tone on many classic albums. But my room tones always sound like a slapback echo, even when I'm just using a reverb. I swear there is no echo/delay being used. I hate that slapback echo on a rhythm guitar! On the classic albums they sound like an "amp in a room".

Headroom Post EQ Mastering.
Hello there,
I had a doubt this morning, the maximum peak advised -3dB to mastering then nothing inserted in the master bus, also applies in mastering post EQ? In this case only a high-pass active filter of 30Hz.
Thank you,
Best,
MATTEO CANDURA

How should I mix this fig 8 room mic?
I'm getting a fig 8 Cascade Fathead II in the next few days, and one of its uses in my studio will be as a room microphone for my guitar rig. I've never used room mics on guitars before, only close mics, but I want to see what it's all about.

Tracking room/mixing room split?
My current situation is that I have a combined mix/tracking room in my basement. I've put in a lot of bass traps and diffusion (mostly under the guidance of people on this forum) and the result is a fairly neutral sounding (as opposed to "good sounding") tracking room. I get good vocals and acoustic instruments. Drums are ... not terrible.

modal prediction of non-rectangular room?
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone knows a way to guesstimate -with any degree of accuracy- the modal response of a room that takes the shape of an "L"
I remember reading (maybe in Everest's 'Handbook'?) something about sectioning off rectangles/squares but what then? Is it possible to predict these modes at all? (as a whole)
