Description

Sampling in music involves taking a section of audio from another source – in this instance, an existing song – and then reworking it into the creation of a new track. Some ill-informed musicians have described it as blatant, shameless plagiarism, but this is an ignorant view point to take.

resampling

I've upgraded my cpu from a 2.4 to a 3.06 and I've decided to bump my sample rate from 44.1 to 48k.
My question is in two parts:
I have nearly 160 GB of samples which are pretty much all 44.1 and I've been converting the ones I use to 48k. Is this necessary, if so, why? Is there a program I can use to batch convert my files(preferably free )?

sampling frequency and dithering tools

Hello,

Just out of curiosity would like to know what each of the members here on RO use for recording if the final goal the usual 44.1 16 bits...

Do you guys use 44.1, 48, 88 or 96 kHz ? And if so why ? If using higher sampling frequencies than 44.1 what dithering tools do you use ?

Thanks in advance

Amateur recording and MIDI sampling

Hi everyone! I'm an amateur brazilian musician, who enjoys prog/rock/metal/instrumental style. I am a REAL beginner and I own a X V-amp, which I plug directly into the line-in of my PC Sound board (which is a lame one, BTW). I use GuitarPro 4 to make drum tracks, because everyone of the drum-composing programs that I tried sucked really hard to me.

bitrates and sampling rates

I understand the theory behind bitrates and sampling rates, and I understand that they are correlated to resolution... but what are the benefits/downfalls from using higher/lower bitrates and sampling rates? In certain applications is it better to lower/raise them, or is it just always go for the highest number? Is it just to make smaller files?

reveiws on the roland v-synth sampling

8-) :) 8) :P :P I been reading some bad reveiws on the sampling features of the V-synth. I just bought one 2 days ago and i love it .Ihave been sampling for 20 years and this board takes it to the next level above and beyond.I have a ASR-10 also was going to keep-it for a while until i ran the v-synth thru the m otions motions done.Hello v-synth goodbye ASR.
