Hey guys,
There's this band where I used to live and I recorded a little 3 song demo for them for very little money; my motivation was to learn. Anyway, they seemed pretty stoked with the recording, then a couple weeks later they got another demo recorded at a pro studio (read pro tools and neve). Anyway, in my opinion, if recording was a competition, I got my ass kicked. :mad:

I'm about to attend a public music conservatory's sound engineer education. Only 4 gets accepted here pr year, so the competition is rather tough.

One of the assignments I have to go through is mixing a musical piece from 24 tracks to DAT in 20 minutes. The music piece will contain a rythm group with horns and vocals.

Seems to me that most people that I know that went to recording school dont know what they are doing, when I comes to recording with presence and character. How many of the pros out there went to recording school? how hard is it to make it for someone that didnt go to recording school? i'm really young, and people say that my mixes beat a lot of the semi-pros out there.

if anyone knows of any good recording schools in or close to canada, please leave some details. thanx alot

Hey what's going on...it's your friendly amateur beat maker. Look, i'm interested in going to this school for the recording arts, FullSail Real World Education..that's the tag. It's $25 grand a year but i'm interested in hearing weather you professionals recommend it? How did you get started and what do you look for in engineers aspiring to work for you in your studio?

I want to go to a good school with great equipment, faculty, internship and placements. Cost is not really the factor, cause I can try for financial aid (I'm a U.S. citizen).
