or

-I can get a 2 channel API Lunch Box for $1900 with the capability of expanding for more channels

Hi all! My first post over here, very nice forum!

After searching through the forums, I think I've narrowed it down to 2 choises the Sebatron VMP4000e or API 3124+.

My current pres are the 4 on the Digi 002 and 8 PreSonus Digimax (via light pipe)

I have a project where I am going to attempt to track both at home in my appartment and in a pro studio. The Studio is a Pro Tools room, loaded with Neve, API, Daking, UA, Vintech etc... I am looking to do Drums and final Voice there.

TLM 103 is a bright mic, from 3K up, there are about +4db increase. Do you think Sebatron is good for TLM 103 mic for voice? What does the "Bright" switch mean? add some +db in high frequency? If that is the case, It might be too bright for the mic.

I'm looking to get the 4 channel pre to start building up my closet of gear that I'll never replace. I was going to use this pre for just about everything ranging across every style of music. My main concern is drums. I know that API seems to be the pre to get for great rock drums. does a Sebatron also fit in that category? Can I get that colour on the kick and snare?

I am thinking about buying a Sebatron Vmp-2000e. Should I get one with VU? How important is a VU? it is $300 more. The 4000e model does not have VU at all. Thanks for advice.

What the heck is the switch on the left side of the ON led for? There is no marking. I just got it and haven't had a chance to hook the sucker up yet, but I'm real curious to know what that is ...it's not even in the manual.

I have some simple but fairly good quality recording equipment at home and also a P.A. which is used largely for vocals at small band shows.

I am not a professional recorder but I am a professional musician and I know the benefit of spending more money to get good quality gear.
