Sebatron manufactures Class A professional quality audio products for musicians, audio engineers and producers. Their flagship VMP Series microphone preamps ...

ISA428 vs. . VMP-4000e

well, I have heard really good things on both of these units and have never heard anyone compare them to each other. They are both 4 channel mic preamps, the 428 being solid state with the optional 8 channel ADAT out ($1699, $599 for optional ADAT a/d), and the VMP-4000e is tube with just analog outs ($1899). I know they have different "colors of sound", but is one better quality?

Choral Recording - my Sebatron 's maiden voyage

This was a freebee - so I took some liberties to experiment. I think it worked. Tried my new preamp - experimented with mic positioning - used ORTF - hadn't done that before. Wanted to be able to balance the choir and the orchestra, so the choir mics (NT5) are above and toward the rear of the instruments. Orchestra mics (MK012) are behind the conductor.

Sebatron - inside and outside - screws and solder and things

I took the top off my VMP-4000e a little while back, and was quite impressed with the construction of the thing. Everything is nicely dressed - heat shrink pretty much everywhere it could be used - glass/epoxy PCB - just a nice looking rig inside. There is obviously a lot of time and care in putting these things together.

Does a Sebatron need warmup time?

Hey Sebatron ,

I was doing some recording with some vintage tube mics and the guy who rents them out said they should warm up for 30-60 minutes before using. What about the Sebatron . Is it better to give it a warm-up time? If so, how much?

Another question: Is there the most valve action on Pad 0, less valve action at Pad -15, then the least at Pad -30?

What dealer to purchase Sebatron from?

I'm set on the vmp1000evu and i checked out Sebatron s site listing several places to purchase from. i am located in central jersey and i would like to have this unit in the next 10 days hopefully so i can use it on my next session. What would be the best place to purchase from?

p.s. sorry if this has been discussed i cant seem to find it using search

thanks
