Sm57 for vocals?
Hello, I have a cheap mic and what to get something to record vocals, drums, and maybe acoustic guitar. Would an sm57 do the job if I position it right and everything, or does anyone have other suggestions. Also the MXL 990 condenser seems good ( I do have phantom power) THanks

what else do i need with my sm57?
well i have an sm57, but i have to plug it into my microphone input on my soundcard using an adaptor and that just sounds awful; the recording isn't very bright, it's all the dull lows and it's also very very quiet. what all do i need to make my sm57 sound as good as it can?

SM57 for vocals and other things?
Hey, i'm a guitarist as those who read my threads know and i use a Shure SM57. I'm looking at picking up another mic to place as a far away mic when i record my guitar parts.
As a result, i will more than likely be tracking vocals with an SM57 becuase i record vocals once in a blue moon as the majority of my work is instrumental.

Shure SM57
i just recieved a Shure sm57 from ebay.. in the box it contained the mic itself with no lead. I have a lead from my previous PG48 and it fits perfectly however my computer does not recognise the microphone and when its plugged in theres nothing that says that the microphone if working
any ideas what the problem could be?

Best mic preamp (and budget pre) to pair with an SM57?
I really like using this on my voice. It seems to work fairly well.
I have heard that dynamic mics are affected much more strongly by preamps than condenser mics because the gain change required is so much greater.
This leads to two questions:
1) Will a better mic preamp fundamentally change the sound of a 57?
and
Another SM58 - SM57 Question
Hails all,
Vocally is there a big difference between the 57 and 58? Would it be worth trying to use both when recording demo vocals? Right now I'm not looking for an awesome sound otherwise, I'd use better Mics but off hand I have a SM57, and a few 58's. Is there a large difference frequecy-wise in the two mics? I always thought they were pretty much the same save the covers.

The SM57 Compaired to the SM58
How much different, technicly speaking, is the SM57 from the SM58 when Micing guitar cabinets? Is there a big frequency difference?

Identifying a Shure SM57 - Unidyne III
So I acquired a box of old miscellaneous audio equipment, rummaging through it I found mostly junk.
Then I came upon the familiar dark-gray die-cast cylinder shaped object that tapers toward the bottom.

dodgy sm57's?
hey guys, i bought a couple of new sm57's from ebay, for a good (but realistic) price, and today the box came, and i was a little suprised to see the box was from china, whereas the ebay auction said it was from australia (where i am). on close inspection, the mics appear a little different from my other 57 i got a few months ago.
