Two SM57's on one amp?
Hey, I'm new to these forums.
I'm also new to recording. I've got a pretty basic set up. A Marshall AVT 50 amp, a Yamaha UW500 interface, an SM57 and a Pod XT.

Will Phantom Power Damage My SM57?
Sorry if this is in the wrong section...
I just bought a used E Mu 1616 interface,
and it warns of phantom power(48V) damaging some mic's.
Is mine one of them?

Your input on the SM57 performance curve
Ok, since I'm an upfront kind of guy here it is: the SM57 is a practical, handy, inexpensive mic for multi-purpose studio use. Perhaps an industry standard. What's the next step up in practical, handy, but a little more expensive, mics? Those of you who don't like long posts can stop here and reply.

Why did Shure raise the price of the SM57?
Anyone know?
I used to be able to get one for $89 at guitar center/musician's screwoff (friend), but now they're going @ $99
I've noticed this over the past six months or so and it's quite annoying, any idea why?

SM57's and toms
Hello! I'm looking at getting a couple of sm57's to record my drums and guitar amp. My question is whether it is wise or not to use sm57's on Toms, and get a good full sound? I read it was great for "snares and guitar cabs". Any suggestions?

sm57 equivalents
Hiiiii,
I just wanted to know your opinion on mics.
So de SM57 is pretty much a standard for snare(only 100 bucks, good mic etc...from what i've read), so i just wanted to know what mics are the SM57 equivalents but for other uses on the drum(kick, overhead, room mic, toms, whatever..bla). You know, inexpensive, and good.

Sm57 and condensor mics
Quick question on the Sm 57. I read and hear its good for recording instruments/amps.
I was checking ebay and I saw on one of the boxes of of the sm 57..and it say "SM57-LC". I couldn't find any infomation it. So is there really 2 models of the sm57, or Im I just crazy.
Also, does anyone have any sugestions for a condensor mic under the 200$ price limit.

The SM57 (vs. . Sennheiser e609)
The sm58 works great on guitar cabs:
That's what me and my brother were told, but our recordings keep telling us otherwise. we've been debating getting the e609, but does anyone know if the sm57 sounds very good for guitar cabinets (heavy metal). because we need a snare mic too. should we just get both?
any input will be appreciated, thanks

Fixing broken Shure 545 (Unidyne III, same as SM57)... argh!
Argghh...
One of the Shure 545 (Unidyne III, predecessor and very similar build to SM57) mics I recently acquired has a broken coil-
