vintage pres and compressors
Hi There, does anyone have any suggestions for a good guy to look over and rack 2 Calrec PQ1061s, a Neve 33314a Compressor and a Calrec C1204 Compressor. Would really appreciate any info, I also have a lot of other vintage gear that needs some attention, such as a Cadac board and some BBC Glensound equipment, so a good recommendation would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks,

API or other compressors
I'm looking for a stereo(dual mono, not just for the mix bus) comp at the moment .For some reason I don't click on the Manley vari-mu that I just tried.I love the fairman TMC but too xpensive. The pendulum is not distributed over here.I like the 33609 but I don't know if the new models sound like the original(Fletcher says no on another thread/forum).I just saw the API 2500 .Does anyone know it?H

chaining compressors - anyone actually doing it?
I am curious to know why there has been absolutely no discussion at recording.org on chaining multiple compressors in a row for individual tracks on mixdown. Does this mean that nobody is actually doing it?
Some People Just Don't Like the Compressors for Pro Tools
We covered eq pluginsin the "Sony vs. Pultec" thread, and got good info. HOWEVER, some people who contributed to the thread suggested that they felt the compressor pluginsavailable for Pro Tools are not yet up to snuff. So let's have it! Who is using what and what are the varying opinions on the compressor plugins Anybody had the time to A/B directly against the hardware versions?
Test Signal Processing Power of your PC
Vincent Burel wrote a simple proggie to test your PC capabilities in real audio processing situations. Test results look a bit abstract to me, but if we post them here we can compare how our DAWs score. I'm particularly interested in ANUS DAW scores (PIV 1.6 FSB versus o/c).

Differences of the 3 Classic compressors?
So in an attempt for trying to find the right "color" of compression for a certain type of vocal "sound", I thought I might ask: Would anyone care and try to attempt explaining the basic character differences between the LA-2A, LA-3A, and 1176LN and what type of instruments vocalists music you'd usually think to try each one on first during a mix?
Thank You for your time in advance.

FATSO And Its Compressors!
I currently use an RNC and Crane Song Hedd for tracking my keyboards and Vocals into my DAW. I like the tube and tape emulations on the HEDD for both tracking and mixing. I was wondering if the compressors on the FATSO were pretty useable for tracking and the 2-bus. I'm not too sure is getting a FATSO would be redundant since I have way to warm and fatten things up with the Hedd.

Best compressors for vocals?
Here is an email question I received from a friendly reader of the RO forums. Before I give my opinion, I think it would be helpful for him to hear some other opinions as well. Anyone want to chime in here and help him out?

Snare Compressors
Hi, I have a question for the pros out there!
I have pretty good results recording snare, but I wanna know what compressors (on Protools) should I use to get that powerful snare that you hear on rock bands these days, and what would be the settings of the compressor. I have all the bombfactory and Waves compressors. thanks
